What to do with the new wrap?
Even fine quality wraps requires special care to maintain their condition and make it possible even for your grandchildren to use them. The most important thing is to wash new wraps before use. I know what it’s like to finally have the wrap which will enable you to have calm walks, make your housekeeping easier and allow you to rock your baby to sleep. Especially hard if you want to help a moody baby with babywearing. But I recommend that you wait until the first wash and dry. The softness and durability of the wrap will compensate for this extra few hours. Washing not only removes the dust accumulated during shipping, but also softens up the fiber in the yarn, and helps the threads organize. It’s even more important that the wrap reaches its final size after washing.

Breaking-in techniques
Slings soften up the most during usage: the more you wrap your baby with it, the softer it becomes. If you’d like to soften it between two uses, braiding will do the trick. Watch the video and try it! Braiding is an attractive way of not just softening the wrap.
If you fold it you can use it as a pillow, or you can lay it under your top sheet and sleep on it. If you have a crib you can braid the wrap between its rods to soften it up. By all means use your wrap in alternative ways, but just pay attention not to damage it! The same applies here as in dressing: avoid sharp edges, velcro, screws!
Cleaning the wrap
Washing:
– Machine washable at 30-40 Celsius, spin at 600 rpm maximum!
– Liquid, baby-friendly detergent is recommended, which doesn’t contain optical whiteners. Use colour absorbent during the first wash!
– Don’t use softener, because it will make the wrap slippery. Use vinegar instead. Vinegar softens the fabric and helps keep the wrap’s original colour.
– Use laundry bags for washing.
– It’s worth putting socks on the rings to protect them and to protect the washing machine as well.
– Smaller patches can be treated locally by hand. Use lukewarm water with laundry soap.
Drying:
– Dry it horizontally, unfolded, in shade if possible. Drying it in direct sunlight is definitely not recommended, because it can alter the wrap’s original colour.
– Using a drying machine is only recommended if it has a fabric-friendly programme! Please be aware that drying your wrap in a drying machine can shrink it, and can shorten its lifetime!
– Attention! Using drying machine with a ring sling is forbidden!
